All in a day, a clear picture of the actual loadability of the Maaslandse Dam bridge
In the coming years, the municipality of Midden-Delfland would like to continue using the Maaslandse Dam bridge in Schipluiden for the planned construction traffic in the area. But, the bridge is more than 100 years old and is in poor condition. Partly due to its age, there were doubts about the loadability of the bridge. Constructive recalculations had implied that the bridge could not be approved for allowing passage of vehicles with a total weight of 20 tonnes. Iv-Infra demonstrated with test loading that this is in fact possible. The conclusion of the load testing was that with sustainable restoration of the encountered concrete damage and sufficient and timely maintenance, the bridge could last for at least another 30 years.
